A Place to Belong

When you visit Pineville First United Methodist Church, you can expect a warm and friendly atmosphere where people genuinely care about one another.

Our worship services are centered on Christ and designed to help people connect with God through worship, prayer, Scripture, and practical biblical teaching.

Come as you are. There's no dress code and no expectations. We simply invite you to join us as we seek to know, love, and serve God together.

Our United Methodist heritage

Distinctly Wesleyan

The United Methodist Church is part of the historic Christian faith. We hold true to the same beliefs that Christians always and everywhere have believed. We believe in the one true God who is revealed in the three persons of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible is the Word of God. We also share other Christian beliefs like belief in the Church, the Kingdom of God, and in the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The United Methodist Church is distinctly Christian. 

As United Methodists we look to four sources to guide us in living out our faith in Jesus Christ. The first and foremost source is the Bible. The Old and New Testament scriptures are the primary guide we have for living out our faith. In addition to and secondary to the scriptures are tradition (the witness of faith of past generations), reason, and experience. Using these four sources as guides, we seek to interpret and apply the truth of the Gospel in the 21st century. 

How We live out our faith

Rooted in Grace

Fundamentally, we are people of Grace. We are here because of God’s grace. Other traditions highlight personal faith, God’s sovereignty, and theological tradition as cornerstones of religious expression. As Methodists, everything we do must be rooted in Grace—Prevenient Grace (God loves us even before we know God), Justifying Grace (You have been justified through Christ), and Sanctifying Grace (the power of the Holy Spirit to transform you from the inside out). 

We are also champions of both mercy and justice. Mercy is feeding those who are hungry. Justice is asking why people are hungry in the first place. Methodists have a long history of standing up and speaking out to “resist evil and injustice in whatever forms they present themselves.” If our good news isn’t good news for the poor (Luke 4:18), then we are no longer sharing Christ.
